2. Lesson Your Footprint on Mother Earth - Walk, bike, share rides, and/or use public transportation. Do not idle your engine while waiting for someone - turn the engine off. At home seek alternative energy solutions to power your home such as solar, wind, geothermal and hydro options. Use reusable bags for shopping and for lunch bags.
3. Create Green Home Practices - Adjust your water heater to a lower temp. Keep your thermostat at 68 to 70 degrees year round. Turn water off while rinsing when showering, brushing teeth and washing dishes. Use energy efficient light bulbs and turn lights off when not in the room. Unplug counter top appliances when not in use. Insulate leaky doors and windows.
4. Sustainable Utensils - Use designated drinking bottles, cups, plates, bowls and utensils, rather than plastic coated paper plates and cups.
5. Green Shopping - Shop in second hand stores or thrift shops. Join a free exchange group in your area. Share big ticket items with neighbors. Donate those special items stuffed in closets and storage bins - someone may have a greater need!
