We plan to gather with our community at the Dr.Usui Peace Tower on the corner of Pine St. and Little League Blvd at noon, when the peace bell rings daily for several minutes. Audri will lead us in a statement about the intention and vision of peace that we share in solidarity with countless groups all over the world. We will then commence a one mile walk through downtown Williamsport, returning to the Peace Tower by 1:00pm. Invitations have been extended to Mayor Campana, State Representative Mirabito, and the general public. According to Audri Scott Williams, We want this UN International Day of Peace to create a global collective experience of peace…something so simple, yet powerful enough to change the world. We challenge communities around the world to “Catch the Spirit” and plan an event, a meditation, a moment of silence to connect with us on September 21st. On September 21st at 12 noon: 1. Walk for peace, dance for peace, conduct a mindfulness meditation, observe a moment of silence, sponsor a concert for peace …; 2. Begin your event by ringing a peace bell, followed by a brief interfaith prayer or ceremony; 3. End your event by ringing the peace bell and conclude with an interfaith prayer or closing ceremony. * We encourage inclusivity/diversity of faith, culture and ethnicity, age, race, physical/mental abilities, sexual orientation and gender in all levels of participation. It is that simple. Footprints Around the World 4 Peace & the Global March for Peace & Unity honors bioregions by supporting local events and sharing them globally. Through internet broadcasting, social media and other web based venues, global sharing and weaving together of the events of the day can occur -- unifying our passion for peace. Two landmark events are forcing us to look at racism in America: the June 27, 2013, the U. S. Supreme Court decision striking down a key portion of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965; and July 13, 2013, the not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman in the murder of Trayvon Martin. What is the power that is shaping our society? Is it the mask of racism? If it is, whose responsibility is it to shift the power structure to make this country indivisible with liberty and justice for all? All of us -- together. Malcolm X - “Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or who says it.” Maya Angelou - History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again, Martin Luther King, Jr. – “injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere”; and, that freedom is for every boy and girl, every woman and man and only through determination, hard work and embracing the diversity of humanity can we begin to end, once and for all, colonialism, racism, sexism, oppression, violence, starvation, imprisonment, poverty, warehousing of humanity, war…” Peace Pilgrim - “One little person giving all of her time to peace, makes news. Many people giving some of their time, can make history.” Audri Scott Williams Footprints Around the World 4 Peace Interim Coordinator, Global Indigenous Initiative, United Religions Initiative co-chairs for the “GMPU Peace Team “ sub-Subcommittee of the “IDP-NGO Committee at the United Nations Wake up call. Justice and Peace are two virtues that walk hand in hand. Where there is justice, there is peace. No justice, no peace. When i heard the verdict I was in a restaurant... the entire place let out a cry of outrage and a black man got up from his seat;quickly walked outside and openly cried in the rain..... this must have been the same response after the trial of Emmit Till.... For real, those who are aware are not surprised....outraged but not surprised. The mask is being pulled off so everybody can see the ugly truth. Racism is alive and well in America. Thank you to all the Freedom fighters who have courageously stood up for justice and truth. Our ancestors left a blueprint of how to do it ....let's work together to build it .....The work continues ...it don't stop .....Let's shift this ... sending out love and light and healing to the family of Trayvon Martin .... My darling beloved Trayvon....rest in peace. Your death is not in vain. I am asking Great Spirit that you surround all of our children here in America, in your divine light of protection. Let us all pray and get to work!

A Story For People Who Want To Change The World by Rachel Naomi Remen, Jun 30, 2013 ... One of the oldest Wisdom stories about change, a story from the 14th century,... tells us that in the Beginning the world was whole, but that at some point in the history of things there was a great accident which scattered the wholeness of the world into an infinite number of tiny sparks of wholeness. These sparks fell into all events, all organizations and all people, where they remain deeply hidden until this very day. The story goes on to say that the whole human race is a response to this accident. We have been born because we can discover and uncover the hidden spark of wholeness in all events, all organizations and all people…we can lift it up and strengthen it and make it visible once again … and by doing so we can heal the world back into its original wholeness. So restoring the wholeness of the world is not only a function of our expertise, it is also a part of our birthright as human beings. We have the power to further the wholeness of things just as we are, with our listening, our belief, our encouragement and our love. So perhaps change is less about fixing a broken world and more about uncovering hidden wholeness in all events, all organizations and all people and remembering our personal power to make a difference. This old story...has given me new eyes. Everyone and everything has in it a seed of a greater wholeness, a dream of possibility. Perhaps what I once saw as “broken” or “lacking” might just as easily be seen as the growing edge of things … This story was included in a recent post by Tom Atlee, Co-intelligence Institute, http://tomatleeblog.com Dear Peace Walkers and Community Activists,
This year on 18 July — Nelson Mandela's 95th birthday — the United Nations (UN) is joining a call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to devote 67 minutes of time to helping others, as a way to mark Nelson Mandela International Day. We, the Trail of Dreams World Peace Walkers, Footprints Around the World 4 Peace, RESPECT for Mother Earth Walkers, and the 13 Moon Walkers 4 Peace are joining with the UN and our United Religions Initiative community in celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday and the Nelson Mandela International Day! The UN staff in New York will help rebuild homes in two of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy! They will volunteer to honor Nelson Mandela’s legacy and service to humanity. The Trail of Dreams World Peace Walkers will engage in a community cleanup project in Cottonwood, Alabama. We invite all walkers and communities we walked through to volunteer to uplift our communities by giving selfless service to meet a need in your community! We can do this. What a great way to uplift one of the world’s great heroes, as he faces his healing challenges at this time. Forever forward in the pursuit of peace on earth for ALL! Today we begin the 100-day countdown to the observance of the International Day of Peace, when the United Nations calls on all combatants around the world to lay down their arms and to give peace a real chance. The International Day of Peace, marked on 21 September each year, offers an opportunity for the world to pause, reflect and consider how best to break the vicious cycle of violence that conflict creates. The theme for the Day this year is “Education for Peace”. The United Nations will examine the role education can play in fostering global citizenship. It is not enough to teach children how to read, write and count. Education has to cultivate mutual respect for others and the world in which we live, and help people forge more just, inclusive and peaceful societies. This kind of education is a central focus of my Global Education First Initiative, which calls on governments to place education at the top of their agenda. I call on everyone – whether governments, parties to conflicts, religious institutions, community leaders, the media, academics, or civil society groups – to play their part. We must support peace education programmes, protect students and teachers from conflict, help rebuild schools destroyed by war, and ensure all girls and boys have access to a quality education that includes learning about resolving and preventing conflicts. Over the next 100 days, let us resolve to learn together how to create a universal culture of peace. Join the URI Global Community as we Walk for Peace on International Day of Peace on 9/21/13

Organizations in each country/community to conduct a walk, dance, meditation, concert for peace as a part of Footprints Around the World for Peace, at 12 noon. 2. Ring your Peace Bell (everyone brings a bell) in celebration of the IDP followed by a brief interfaith prayer or ceremony and then walk for at least a mile. Some groups have indicated they want to do a longer walk and of course that is up to each group or organization. 3. RIng your Peace Bell at the end and conclude with an interfaith prayer. * We encourage inclusivity/diversity of faith, culture and ethnicity, age, race, physical/mental abilities, sexual orientation and gender in all levels of participation. It is that simple. What makes the difference is that we show up for PEACE! 4. Take lots of photos and video and send them to the live broadcast. The world celebrates the international Day of Peace on September 21, 2013. It is the goal of Trail of Dreams World Peace Walkers - United Religions Initiative Cooperation Circle in honor of United Nations International Day of Peace to affect the largest most inclusive initiative for peace on the International Day of Peace on September 21, 2013 @ 12 noon in every time zone around the world. Imagine a wave of intentional peace encompassing the world, like a wave gently washing over the planet to raise the consciousness of peace, a wave so strong it literally causes people to put down their weapons and hold the space for a possible future of peaceful coexistence. The ringing of bells is a major part of this day. Bells will ring at 12 noon in every time zone to begin each event and again at 1pm to conclude the event. According to the Center for Neuroacoustic Research, "Since ancient times, human beings have been using sound to enhance states of consciousness. The ancients imparted a sophisticated, intuitive knowledge of how the tuning of the bowls, bells, chanting etc. could create sound to expand consciousness, opening higher levels of brain function." If this is true, and I believe it is, the gentle sounding of the bells will connect us through our hearts, allowing all within its range to feel the power of love and compassion and -- the inevitability of peace. The Interfaith Prayers will remind us as well, that there are many wells but only one river -- the Divine by many names. We are one.
